What is the origin of numerology?

The origin of numerology goes back to the year 569 to 470 BC, with the Greek philosopher Pythagoras, who studied the metaphysics of numbers and believed that a single-digit could determine the spiritual vibrations of the being.

On the other hand, Kabbalah, a textbook that explains Jewish mysticism and thought, uses the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet to find the numerological meaning of a name, while in ancient Babylon, there was a methodology called Chaldean, which is focused on the vibration of the numbers one through eight.

However, numerology as such was introduced by L. Dow Balliett, an influential early 20th century spiritualist, who wrote several books on the subject.
